SashSEAL your existing sash windows
Stop drafts, eliminate rattling and sticky windows
GreenWood SashSEAL

SashSEAL gives your sash windows a new life!

When you install our SashSEAL in your windows, your windows will be sealed from the elements, reduce drafts and move more smoothly.

STEP 1:

Remove the sash stop

Start by removing the window stop on each side of your window, then the upper and lower window sashes can be removed.

STEP 2:

Plane the window sash sides

Plane the left and right sides of the window sashes to create the gap needed for the SashSEAL installation.

A hand planer work fairly well, but can be labor intensive.  We recommend a power planer available for sale or rental at most home improvement stores.  Planers are inexpensive and easy to operate.

STEP 3:

Route the sashes

Route a kerf on the left, right and base of the lower window sash.  Route a kerf on the left, right and top of the upper sash.

Route the meeting rail on the lower sash (rails where the two windows overlap and lock) so that the kerf faces the overlapping sash and provides a seal between the two windows.

STEP 4:

Simply press SashSEAL into the kerf cut on all side of the window sashes (upper and lower).

STEP 5:

Reinstall windows and sash stops

Re-attach the weights and ropes (or chains), place the sashes into the opening and tack the sash stops into the trim.

Enjoy the comfort of your newly SashSEALed windows!
